Electricity from the planned coal-fired power plant with a combined capacity of 5x1,000 MW in Cilacap, Central Java, will be primarily dedicated for industries in Cilacap, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Wednesday.

The paper quoted President Director of state-owned electricity firm PLN, Nur Pamudji as saying that PLN will only get supply from the plant if there is excess power.

A company called PT Jawa Energi has been assigned to develop the giant power plant, which is expected to be entirely completed in 2022. The first phase of 2,000 MW, however, is expected to come on stream in 2018. (*)
