The 2 x 300 MW Cilacap coal-fired power plant is scheduled to operate partially on Saturday after its coal supplier PT Adaro Indonesia agrees to resume coal shipment.

The plant?s technical manager Sutikno said in Cilacap on Thursday that three barges carrying a total of 32,500 tons of coal were on the way from Kalimantan to the Cilacap port.

?The first barge with 12,500 tons of coal is expected to arrive on Saturday, the second one with 7,500 tons on Sunday and the third one with another 12,500 tons on Monday,? he said.

He said that Adaro agreed to resume the coal shipment, which had been halted since Tuesday, after PT Sumber Segara Primadaya (S2P) , the operator of the Cilacap power plant, agreed to settle its debt arrears with Adaro.

?The financial problem is currently being discussed by Segara and the coal supplier,? he said. He, however, said that the Cilacap power plant would only able to operate one of its two turbines despite the arrival of the coal shipment.

The power plant has two turbines each with a capacity of 300 megawatt. Each turbine needs about 3,000 tons of coal a day. (*)
