Pertamina's Cilacap refinery plant in Cilacap, Central Java has produced above its normal production level to help increase the national fuel stocks, Kompas reported on Thursday.

Husni Banser, the spokesman of Pertamina's operational unit in Cilacap, said on Wednesday that the production of Premium fuel and diesel oil had been increased to 100 milion kilo liters and 16,500 kilo liters per day, respectively, since July 1 to help increase the country's fuel stocks.

The Cilacap power plant which normally produced about 90,000 kilo liters of Premium fuel had carried out its production activities at 10 percent above its capacity, Husni said. He added that the over production of the Premium fuel and diesel oil would not affect the condition of the plant's processing facilities because the production of other types of the fuel had been reduced.

Pertamina is increasing the fuel stocks to its normal level which has recently declined due to the drop in the fuel imports. At present the stocks are enough only for 18 days, and an increase in the stock is therefore needed to bring back the stocks to the normal level or enough for 22 days. (*)
