Independent power producer PT. Sumber Segara Primadaya is forced to completely shut down its Cilacap 2x300 MW power plant in Cilacap, Central Java, after it ran out of coal due to rough sea that blocked vessels from unloading coal, an official at state said on Thursday.
PLN Director Ali Herman Ibrahim told Petromindo.Com that the plant may be able to resume operations January 7 the soonest. ?Currently two coal barges which carry 13,0000 tonnes of coal each and another one which carries 7,000 tonnes are on standby in Pacitan, East Java. It is expected that the barges could sail on January 5 and will arrive in Cilacap January 7 and hopefully could unload the coal,? he said.
Java water is hit by 5-6 meters wave, making it impossible for coal vessels to berth unloading ports. (godang)
