Cilegon power plant to operate early next year

The Cilegon combined cycle power plant which is now under construction in Cilegon, Banten, is scheduled to begin operation early 2006, with total capacity of 740 megawatt, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Wednesday.
The combined cycle power plant, which can use both gas and diesel oil as its fuel, is one three power plants to be operated by state owned electricity company PLN next year. The other two new plants include Tanjung Jati B and Cilacap power plants.
"The Cilegon power plant will be operated early next year. The operation of gas turbine and steam turbine will be begun in August," Yusuf Suntoro, the general manager of the Cilegon power plant.
The new power plant will receive a gas supply of between 90 million and 100 million cubic feet per day from gas producer CNOOC, which will supply the gas from its offshore oil field near Banten. (*)
