Independent Power Producer PT Cirebon Electric Power (CEP) said it will need 2.3 million tons of coal for its 1x 660 MW power plant in Cirebon, West Java this year, the same amount it consumed last year

Vice President Heru Dewanto told Petromindo.com on Monday that the power plant?s feedstock is coal with a calorific value of 4200-4500 GAR.

?With regards coal supply, we follow PLN?s rule since it is a pass-through cost. The coal is provided by PLN,? he said, referring to state owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) (Persero).

CEP is a consortium comprising of Marubeni Corporation, Indika Energy Tbk, Samtan Co. Ltd, Korea Midland Power Co. Ltd, and Chubu Electric Power Co. Inc. The firm plans to expand the capacity of the power plant by 1000 MW and it has signed Power Purchasing Agreement (PPA) for the expansion project.
