Palm oil group PT Citra Borneo Indah hopes to be able to complete the construction of a biodiesel plant in Pangkalan Bun, Central Kalimantan, next year.

Harry M. Nadir, Director of IDX-listed oil palm plantation firm PT Sawait Sumbermas Sarana Tbk (SSMS), a subsidiary of Citra Borneo, said to petromindo.com on Thursday that construction progress of the plant has reached 40 percent.

He said that SSMS palm oil output will be entirely used as feedstock for the production of biodiesel by Citra Borneo. He did not provide further details.

According to information obtained by this portal from other sources, the estimated US$60 million biodiesel plant will have capacity of 1,000 tons of biodiesel, and 2,500 tons of olein per day.

Last year, SSMS produced 321,238 tons of crude palm oil, from processing 1.35 million tons of fresh fruit bunch.
