Australian listed oil firm CityView Corporation Limited said on Wednesday it was making progress with its oil well projects in Indonesia namely the Madura and Simenggaris blocks, together with its Indonesian partner PT Medco Energi International Tbk.

Its Sebaya-1 well in the Madura block was drilled to 5793 feet. At this depth sandstones were encountered with oil and gas shows. The mud weight was increased and drilling has proceeded to 5954 feet. The mud is being conditioned to control gas entering the well and prevent loss of circulation, CityView said.

CityView will also start with another well, Karasan-1 site, also in the Madura block. It said negotiations with the landowners had finally been completed. Medco said it would drill Karasan upon completion of the Sebaya program, according to the company.

Meanwhile, it said the dredging of the Pidawan-1 canal in the Simenggaris block in East Kalimantan had been completed. Medco said it is now dredging the location for the swamp barge rig, and the spud-in of the well is scheduled for mid December, CityView added. (Leo/Robert)
