Clean coal technology to be key topic at coal summit

Chairman of the Indonesian Coal Mining Association (APBI) Bob Kamandanu said that the issue of clean coal technology will be one of the key topics to be discussed in the upcoming Global Coal Summit, which is scheduled to be held in March in the popular resort island of Bali.

Bob was quoted by Kompas Thursday as saying that the country needs to further push for the application of clean coal technology in a bid to help protect the environment, and amid growing overseas demand for cleaner coal.

He added that the first Global Coal Summit will become a new momentum for the recovery of the domestic coal industry, which has been hit by the downturn in the global coal market.

The summit is organized jointly by APBI and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) with the support of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. (*)
