CNG for public transportation campaign in Palembang
Wednesday, December 21 2011 - 04:29 AM WIB
The ceremony was conducted by Director General of Oil and Gas at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry Evita H. Legowo and Palembang Mayor Eddy Santana.
The converters were handed out for free, as well as the provision of installation service and maintenance for five years.
Evita said this program was part of a national campaign to promote the use of compressed natural gas (CNG) nationwide, in a move that could gradually reduce the state budget?s fuel subsidy allocation while at the same time promoting a cheaper and more environment-friendly fuel.
In Palembang for instance, more converters will be distributed, along with the development of gas refueling stations.
The gas in the city will be supplied by PT Medco E&P. (romel)
