CNOOC makes gas find in Sumatra

Chinese oil firm CNOOC Ltd has discovered gas during its recent drilling in Batanghari PSC onshore Riau, an official with upstream oil, gas authority BPMIGAS said.
The Kenanga-1 exploration well flowed 8.41 MMCFD of gas per day and 39.2 barrel of condensate per day during test, BPMIGAS Spokesperson Amir Hamzah told Petromindo.Com.
He did not give further detail.
An official at Indonesian unit of CNOOC said in December 2009 that the second exploration well called Matahari-1 would be drilled after the Kenanga-1.
CNOOC has 87 percent stake in the block, which was awarded in 2006. (godang)
