Some 100 workers of China National Offshore Oil Company CNOOC) on Monday staged demonstration at its Jakarta office demanding the company management to provide them with bonuses and other packages to improve their welfare, Detik.Com reported.

Most of the protesters were workers at CNOOC?s oil field in the Thousand Islands seawaters north of Jakarta.

They said their action followed their deadlocked negotiations with the company management.

CNOO, China?s largest offshore producer, bought in January the Indonesian oil and gas assets of Spanish-Argentinian firm oil giant Repsol-YPF for $US585 million. The acquisition made CNOO state oil and gas firm Pertamina?s largest offshore production sharing contractor. (Leo)
