The Indonesian Coal Mining Association (APBI) will hold talks with the state-owned power utility PT Indonesia Power over the supply of coal in June to the latter's Suralaya coal-fired power plant in Cilegon, West Java.
APBI executive Jeffrey Mulyono, who is also president of coal producer PT Berau Coal, said that the talks would be held this week and focus on the volume coal supply to be delivered to Suralaya next month.
Suralaya consumes about 35,000 tons of coal per day.
Jeffrey said that Suralaya had secured coal supply for this month from several coal companies at the price of US$17.1 per ton. He said that the supply contract followed the terms set by coal mining company PT Adaro.
Suralaya was facing difficulties earlier this year in securing its coal supply. But after a high profile intervention from the ministry of mineral resources and energy, several coal companies finally agreed to make the necessary supply for May. (Godang)
