The director general of mineral and coal at the energy and mineral resources ministry, Bambang Setiawan, said that a number of foreign and local investors would soon build three coal blending facilities in Indonesia.
He did not mention the names of the companies but said that one of the facilities would be built near a coal mine in East Kalimantan and another one or two to be built in Java.
?We hope the construction of the facilities could be begun this year. It will take about one year to complete the construction,? he said, adding that state electricity company PLN would be also involved in the construction of the facilities because it would be the main user of the blended coal.
Bambang said that the facilities would blend coal sold by coal miners on the domestic market as part of the mandatory domestic market obligation (DMO). (giok)
