Coal-fired power plant to be developed in Tabalong

A foreign investor plans to develop a coal-fired power plant in Tanta district, Tabalong regency, South Kalimantan province, which would also supply power to Central Kalimantan and East Kalimantan.
The Banjarmasin Post daily quoted Tabalong Regent Noor Aidi as saying that the development of the coal-fired power plant would take advantage of the abundant coal resources in the regency.
Noor said that the investor was still making negotiation with the state-owned power monopoly PLN in Jakarta.
He did not name the investor.
But Noor said that PLN seemed to disagree with the investment plan, arguing that there were not power shortage problem in the above three provinces.(*)
