Coal mining firm PT Ratumaya Buana will construct a special port in Kintap area, Tanah Laut sub district, South Kalimantan, to allow smooth transportation of coal from the province to the Paiton power generating unit in East Java province, the local Banjarmasin Post daily said Wednesday.

The paper quoted Ratumaya president Sri Mulyati Djunaedi as saying that the 60 hectare port was expected to be completed in several months. In the initial stage the port would have a capacity of 30,000 tons per month, and later to be increased to 100,000 tons per month.

Sri also said that the company would also develop a special 6-km coal road to allow the transfer of coal from the company's mining site to the port.

Currently, the company transports its coal to the Tri Sakti port in Banjarmasin.(*)
