As many as 44 coal miners in Jambi, out of 59 miners holding production permit, have stopped operation due to lingering price downturn, Antara reported Friday.
Head of the Jambi Mining Office Gamal Husin said that because many firms have stopped operation, the province's coal production target of 8.7 million tons will not be achieved.
He said that in the third quarter, output was only 2.8 million tons. As such, revenue and export targets will also not be met.
He did not disclose the name of the coal miners.(*)
