Coal for Indonesia Power set at US$17.1 per ton on May

The price of coal for the Suralaya power generation unit of the state-owned PT Indonesia Power has been set at US$17.1 per ton for May delivery, according to an official of the Indonesian Coal Mining Association.

Jeffrey Mulyono told Petromindo.com that this was around 10 percent below the market price.

Four coal mining companies including PT Adaro Indonesia, PT Kideco, PT Berau Coal, and state-owned PT Bukit Asam Tambang Batubara have earlier agreed to supply some 900,000 tons of coal to supply the needs of Suralaya.

But Jeffrey said that since some of the coal supplied by Berau and Bukit Asam had lower quality, the price for the two companies was lower. He did not mention what the price was.

"We'll coordinate with Indonesia Power how to supply the coal to the power unit," said Jeffrey, who is also a senior official of the association and the president director of PT Berau Coal. (Godang)
