Coal miners banned from using public roads

The South Sumatra Legislative Council during a meeting Friday with the local transportation authority and police issued a recommendation for the provincial administration to ban the use of public roads for coal transport starting May, local reports said.

Lawmaker Zainudin told reporters that the ban would be permanent to help resolve the worsening traffic jam in public roads.

He said that coal miners must use special road for coal transport. He acknowledged that the coal miners did not show up during the meeting. (*)
