Director of Coal Management and Development at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Adhi Wibowo said on Tuesday that of the 12 coal miners holding the so-called coal contracts of work, or PKP2B, which signed contract amendment in December, five returned part of their concessions to comply with the stipulation set in the 2014 Mining Law, while seven others maintained their concessions as their sizes are within the limit set by the law.
He said that to date, total coal concessions which have been returned to the state reaches 19,463 hectares, taking into account concessions returned by six miners which signed contract amendment in June 2015.
Adhi said that the returned concessions will be offered via tender to new investors, but so far there is no schedule yet as to when the tender will be held.
The five coal miners which have recently returned part of their concessions are PT Selo Argodedali, PT Bara Pramulya Abadi, PT Karya Bumi Baratama, PT Astaka Dodol, and PT Baturona Adimulya. (*)
