The Association of Indonesia Heavy Equipment Manufacturer (Hinabi) predicts that the demand for heavy equipment will continue to increase mainly thanks to the booming coal mining.
The association?s governmental relation Syahlan Widodo said that its members are facing difficulties to meet the demand which is expected to hit 25,000 units in 2020.
?We predict the demand would reach 25,000 units per year by 2020 which is equal to the current condition in China,? Syahlan said.
China is currently the world?s largest coal producing country while Indonesia is ranked the first on the largest importer nation.
He said that the total capacity of heavy equipment makers in Indonesia was only 9,500 to 10,000 units per year.
?In 2012, the production of heavy equipment would be about 9,500 units. The companies wanting to buy the heavy equipment should wait for about five months,? he said.
Hinabi currently has 33 members of heavy equipment makers including Komatsu Indonesia and Hitachi. They plan to participate in the ASEAN?s largest international automotive and heavy equipment expo to be held on 28-31 March in Jakarta International Expo ground at Kemayoran.
The expo?s organizing company, PT Global Expo Management (GEM) said that more than 1,000 companies, both domestic and international, are expected to present its new products.
?Fifteen companies producing heavy equipment for mining, forestry and plantations have confirmed to participate in the event to display products at the expo outdoor area,? Baki-Lee Director of PT GEM said.
The expo, supported by among others Hinaba and Indonesian Mining Service Association (Aspindo) would have mix participants from various associations such as the International auto parts, accessories and equipment (ANAPA), Indonesia international bike, parts and accessories (INABIKE), Indonesia international tyre and rubber industry, Indonesia international bus, truck and component(IIBT) and Indonesia international heavy duty vehicle and equipment.
