East Kalimantan-based coal mining company PT Interex Sacra Raya (ISR) will begin its trial production by the end of this month, with monthly production of between 20,000 tons and 30,000 tons.

"We are ready to begin trial production by the end of this month. We hope we will be able to produce between 20,000 tons and 30,000 tons monthly during the trial production, and will be exported to Japan" Frans Nongka, the president of PT Interex, told Petromindo on Monday.

The company initially planned to begin production activities in June of this year but it delayed the plan due to heavy rains.

Frans said the company's mining area, located in the border area of East Kalimantan and South Kalimantan provinces, had been seriously flooded during the heavy rains. The company expects to produce about 1.2 million tons of coal in 2006. (dino)
