Coal, nickel output seen up in 2013, copper, tin down

The country?s coal production was estimated to rise to 421 million tons this year, compared with 407 million tons last year, Director General of Coal and Mineral at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources R. Sukyar said.
Nickel output was expected to increase to 47 million tons in 2013 from 41 million ton in 2012, the senior official told a press conference at the ministry on Friday.
The production of bauxite was expected to hike to 47 million tons this year from 30 million tons last year, said Sukyar.
On iron ores, the production of the commodity was estimated to rise to 15 million tons from 10 million, he said.
But production of copper was estimated to decrease to 370 million tons from 448 million tons, said Sukyar. Tin output was foreseen down to 44,000 metric tons from 95,000 metric tons.
On gold, the production of the commodity was forecast to decline to 39 million tons this year from 75 million tons last year, said Sukyar.
The decline of gold and copper production was due to the recent accident at the giant PT Freeport Indonesia which halted production, the official said.
The director general said that the country?s non tax revenue (PNBP) from mineral and coal was expected to decrease to Rp33.1 trillion this year from Rp24 trillion last year, and the revenue from tax was forecast to increase to Rp112 trillion from Rp97 trillion.
