Seeks Indonesian mine acquisition

Dubai-based trading firm Coal & Oil Group will increase Indonesian coal import this year by 20 percent to meet increasing demands, an Indonesian unit official said on Wednesday.

Country Head-Indonesia Joshy T. Varghese told Petromindo.Com that the Company will import 5- 5.5 million tonnes of Indonesian coal in 2010, up from 4 million tonnes last year.

He declined to name suppliers but said most of the coal was sourced from Kalimantan producers.

Varghese also said that the Company is still looking to acquire brown field coal mines in Indonesia with minimum mineable reserves of 20 million tonnes and CV of 5,500 kcal/kg. (denny)
