Indonesia?s coal output in January-February period of this year declined by 18.75 percent to 65 million tons compared to 80 million tons in the same period of last year, Kontan reported on Wednesday.

The paper quoted Bambang Tjahjono, Director of Coal Management and Development at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, as saying that the production slowdown was a result of the current downturn in the global coal market and tighter export procedure set by the government.

Bambang said that output for this year is projected to reach 425 million tons, down compared to last year?s 458 million tons. (*)
