Coal mining company PT United Coal Indonesia (PT UCI) said that it?s finding difficulties to get vessels to deliver its coal to customers at home and overseas.
UCI President Director Taufik Surya Darma told Petromindo.com by phone Monday that vessels are currently in short supply as they?re mostly used to transport nickel ores. He said that at one of the jetties, the company had not conducted any vessel loading activity for a week, which caused the coal to mount at the stockpile.
He did not provide details.
UCI has producing mines at its concessions in East Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, and South Sumatra. This year, the company aims to produce 3.9 million tons of coal, up from about 2 million tons last year. Some of the coal products are exported primarily to China and India.
