PT Titan Group, which is also involved in coal business, said the coal road it is building in Muara Enim, South Sumatra, will be ready for full operation at the end of September, Tribunnews reported on Wednesday.

?We are now elevating the road level in Sungai Rotan district which is prone to floods. All other sections of the road have been completed and passable,? Titan Group?s spokesperson Yayan Suhendri said on Wednesday.

Previously, the road was built by PT Servo Lintas Raya (SLR) and PT Swarna Dwipa Dermaga Jaya (SDDJ) and PT Swarna Dwipa Dermaga Jaya (SDDJ). Both firms were acquired by Titan at the end of March 2014.

The road has a length of 116 km, stretching from Tanjung Jambu village, Merapi Timur district, Laha regency to Muara Lematang village, Sungai Rotan district, Muara Enim regency.

The development of the road has been basically completed but a section of the road, measuring 20 km from Muara Lematang village (stockpile jetty) to Sukarame village in Sungai Rotan district needs to be repaired because it is prone to flood. The section is being elevated.

The road has a width of 30 meters. It has three steel-frame concrete bridges and three flyovers.

Titan is running a trial operation of the road by transporting coal from Tanjung Serian stockpile to the Muara Lematang jetty using 30 trucks carrying the firm?s coal production.

For the moment, the firm will use the road only to haul its coal production but it would allow other firms to use the road as long as the deal is good, Yayan said. (*)
