Coal shipment from S. Kalimantan stopped due to bad weather: INSA

Coal shipment from South Kalimantan province to power plants, industries in Java and also for export has been stopped due to unfavorable weather condition, Media Indonesia reported Friday.

South Kalimantan head of The Indonesian National Shipowners' Association (INSA) Sufrisman said on Thursday that coal shipment activity has been stopped because bad weather with high wave reaching 5 meters and port authority has also issued the announcement to stop temporarily the activity.

?In the last couple days, coal shipment was ceased,? he said.

Export activity in Taboneo transshipment point has also come to standstil. ?Barges can?t load the coal into the mother vessel,? he added. He did not give detail when the activity will be resumed.

South Kalimantan province is one of the major coal sourced region to supply coal to domestic and also export. (*)
