Coal stock at Tanjung Jati B only enough for one day

Thursday, January 3 2008 - 10:32 AM WIB

Coal stock at 2x660-MW Tanjung Jati B Power plant in Jepara, Central Java, is currently at 11,000 tonnes and might be forced to shut down its entire units on Friday should the coal vessels still fail to berth the plant?s unloading port due to rough sea, a PLN official said on Thursday.

PLN Director Ali Herman Ibrahim told Petromindo.Com that currently 3 vessels carrying coal with combined output of 160,000 tonnes are waiting near the plant?s jetty and could immediately unload the coal should the weather and sea condition become favorable.

Tanjung Jati B has stopped operations of one of its units and the remaining unit consumes about 9,000 tonnes of coal per day after vessels that carry coal failed to unload due to high wave that hit Java sea for the past two weeks. (godang)
