"The coal stock for the Cilacap power plant is enough at least for 21 days. The sinking of the two ships did not affect our coal stock,? said the power plant?s field manager Sutikno as quoted by Antara news agency.
Two cargo ships carrying coal supply for the power plant ran aground due to bad weather when they almost reached the port near the power plant. One of the ship named Pulau Tiga 3405 which carried 11,000 tons of coal ran aground near Kemiren beach, Cilacap on Sunday, while the other ship RMS 3202 carrying 10,500 tons of coal ran aground in Menganti beach on Monday.
South Kalimntan coal producer PT Adaro Indonesia is the main coal supplier for the power plant.
PT Sumber Segara Primadaya (S2P) is independent power producer (IPP), which operates the Cilacap power plant. S2P is 49% owned by PT Pembangkitan Jawa-Bali (PJB) and 51% owned by PT Sumberenergi Sakti Prima (SSP). PJB is in turn 99.9% owned by PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero). (*)
