Sugiri, the head of the Port Said that the construction of the coal terminal was needed to ease the increase in the coal traffic at the Tanjung Priok port.
He said that the flow of the coal through the Tanjung Priok port had been on the rise lately due to the rise in coal demand from industries in Java. He said that the demand for coal would continue to increase in the future as more companies now used coal as the fuel of their industrial plants.
Sugiri said that the construction of the coal terminal in the Sunda Kelapa port was therefore important, as the coal traffic at the Tanjung Periok port had now been too congested to meet the further growth in the coal shipment.
More and more companies have turned to coal as the fuel of their plants because the use of coal is now much cheaper than the diesel oil. (*)
