PT Citra Omega Alam Lestari (COAL) expects the company?s two coal concessions in Lebak regency, Banten and in Penajam Paser Utara regency, East Kalimantan to begin commercial production next year.

?We have a target to begin production next year, but it will depend on prices and market,? chief operating officer PT COAL, Ridony Gurning, said. ?At present, JORC exploration is still underway in the two concessions. For Lebak, a quarter of the concession has been drilled, while for Penajam Paser Utara, about one-third has been drilled,? he added.

If the production could be realized next year, the company targets to produce between 500,000 and 800,000 tons in the first year in Lebak, and would increase the production to between 1.5 million and 2 million tons a year in the second year.

?While for Penajam Paser Utara, the production could be three times the production in Lebak because Lebak has higher stripping ratio,? Rodnoy added.

He said that coal with medium calorie would be exported to China and India , while those with higher calorie would be exported to Korea , Japan and Taiwan .

In addition to the two concessions, PT COAL, part of the Samuel Group, also has a manganese concession in East Manggarai regency, East Nusa Tenggara province.
