Coal mining company PT Citra Omega Alam Lestari (COAL) hopes that two concessions in North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan, and in Lebak Regency, Banten, to start production in the second quarter of this year.

?Exploration work at the Penajam Paser concession has been completed, but we?re still conducting an analysis. Meanwhile, drilling is still being conducted at one area in the the Lebak concessions. We expect plan to start production in the second quarter,? CEO of COAL Ridony Gurning told Petromindo.com Monday.

He said that the Lebak concession will have an initial production capacity of 500,000-800,000 tons per year, and to rise to 1.5-2 million tons per year in the following year.

?The capacity of the Penajam Paser concession could be twice or three times larger than the capacity of the Lebak concession. This is because the stripping ratio at the Lebak concession is higher than in Penajam Paser,? Ridony explained.

The company, which is part of the Samuel Group, has three coal concessions as it also owns a coal concession in East Kutai, East Kalimantan. The company plans to carry out exploration work at this concession this year.
