Coal traders win spot tender to supply coal to Labuan power plant

State electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has appointed two coal trading firms to supply a total of 96,000 tons to its 2x300 MW Labuan power plant in Banten this month and next month.

Both firms won the contract in a recent spot tender held by PLN to supply a total of 184,000 tons of coal to the power plant. The volume is divided into four lots.

PT Sentosa Laju Abadi and PT Artha Daya Coalindo (ADC) won Lot 1 and Lot 3 respectively, each amounting to 48,000 tons, PLN?s primary director Nur Pamudji told Petromindo.com on Friday.

ADC is a coal trading and transportation unit of PT Indonesia Power, which is a unit of PLN

Both firms set their prices at around Rp 480,000 (US$=Rp 9,050) per ton, he said, adding that winners of Lot 2 (48,000 tons) and Lot 4 (40,000 tons) would be announced on July 17 (tomorrow).

Both traders should ship the coal from July 20 through Aug. 31. (bernard)
