Operation at Suralaya power plant in Banten will be not significantly affected following a recent coal train accident in Baturaja, South Sumatra, an official at the power plant?s operator said Thursday.

?We have not received an official report about the accident. However, it will not significantly affect our power plant operation because our coal stocks, which now stands at about 570,000 tons, are enough for 12 days of operation,? PT Indonesia Power operating director Achmad Sadikin told Petromindo.Com on Thursday morning.

On Wednesday, a cargo train carrying coal produced by state-owned coal mining company PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam (PTBA) reportedly crashed with a passenger bus in Baturaja, killing at least 10 people and injuring 27 others.

PTBA delivers its coal through the railway to Tarahan coal terminal in Lampung mainly for the Suralaya 3400-megawatt power plant and overseas buyers. (dino)
