Coeclerici, Mitra to operate transshippers for Berau Coal

Italian logistics firm Coeclerici Logistics SpA said it would operate a transshipper to load coal for East Kalimantan coal miner PT Berau Coal.

Business Development Manager Giordano Scotto d?Aniello told Petromindo.Com on Wednesday that the transshipper, which is currently under construction in a shipyard in China, will start operation in July 2011 under 10 ?year contract.

The transshipper, which is yet to be named, will have two cranes and two ship loaders with average loading rate of 35,000 tonnes per day.

Coeclerici with its Indonesian partner has already operated trans-shipper ?Bulk Pioneer? for East Kalimantan coal mining firm PT Kaltim Prima Coal.

Berau Coal is gearing up shiploading capacity to support plan to double production to 30 million tonnes per annum in starting 2014, General Manager Transportation & Sales Administration Rudi AR told Petromindo.Com, adding that the Company has planned to add 2-3 more transshippers to add capacity.

Another trans-shipper called ?Princess Chloe? will also start loading coal for Berau Coal by year-end, UK firm C Transport Maritime (CTM) Director Luigi Cafiero said on Wednesday.

The transshipper will be operated by PT Mitra CTM Swire , which is a joint venture between local shipping firm PT Mitrabahtera Segara Sejahtera, CTM and Singapore?s Swire Group.

According to Cafiero, Princess Chloe, which is currently under construction in the Philippines, will have designed loading rate of 50,000 tonnes per day with 2,200 tonnes-per-hour telescopic shiploader.

The transshipper is working for Berau Coal under long-term contract, said Cafiero.

Mitra CTM Swire also operates transshipper ?Princess Abby? for Berau Coal with average loading rate of 23,500 tonnes per day and guaranteed rate of 18,000 tonnes per day. (denny/alex)
