State-owned electricity company PT. PLN said that completion of the Tenayan Raya coal-fired power plant in Pekan Baru, Riau, will be delayed into June 2015 from March.
General Manager of PLN for the Riau and Riau Islands regions, Doddy Pangaribuan was quoted as saying over the weekend that the completion of the 2x100 MW power plant has been delayed because the necessary transmission facility has yet to be completed.
He added that there are seven units of transmission facility which have yet to be completed due to problem related to land acquisition.
The Tenayan power plant has suffered several delays including due to land acquisition problem. It was originally planned to support the 2012 National Sports Event or PON. The completion of the power plant would help increase electricity supply in Riau, which is suffering from power shortage. (*)
