State-owned electricity firm PT PLN has delayed the announcement of the winning bidders for solar power plant projects in Sumatra to next year, from the initial plan of mid this year, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Wednesday.

The paper quoted Nicke Widyawati, PLN Director for Strategic Procurement I, as saying that the company has just completed the pre-qualification (PQ) stage of the tender process.

She said the company will need more time to determine the winning bidders for the solar power plant (PLTS) projects in each region as the tender participants are now required to submit their proposals to develop the projects.

Nicke estimated that the winning bidders will be announced next year after PLN evaluate the proposals submitted by the tender participants.

Nicke said that of the total 85 consortiums which submitted PQ tender documents, 50 participants passed to the next tender stage, while 30 failed.

PLN opened PQ tender on May 26-June 2 for the development of the Sumatra PLTS projects with combined capacity of 167.58 MW. A total of 212 companies registered to participate in the tender, but only 85 returned the PQ tender documents.

The projects are divided into six packages including package 1 in Aceh with capacity of 20 MW; package 2 in North Sumatera with capacity 35 MW; package 3 in Riau, Riau Islands, and Bangka Belitung with capacity 38.68 MW; package 4 in West Sumatra with capacity 16 MW; package 5 in South Sumatra, Jambi and Bengkulu (S2JB) with capacity 33 MW; and package 6 in Lampung with capacity of 24.9 MW.
