State-owned electricity company PLN has named PT Connusa Energindo to carry out a feasibility study on the plan to build an inter-island power grid connecting Sumatra and Java, Investor Daily reported on Wednesday.
Muljo Adjie, PLN's director for power distribution and supply control, said in Jakarta on Tuesday that Connusa outbid two other bidders PT APS Indonesia and PT Indra Karya in the tender to carry out the feasibility on the planned Sumatra-Java power grid.
"Connusa won the tender with a bidding price of Rp 1.8 billion," Muljo said.
He said that the company would begin the feasibility study soon after the feasibility study contract was signed with PLN, which would build the inter-island power grid to distribute an excess of power supply from Sumatra to Java.
President Director of Connusa Group Keith K Sutomo predicts that the study would take five months. (*)
