Conoco may return Natuna exploration block

US Oil, gas firm Conoco Inc. may return NorthWest Natuna Sea Block II exploration block to the government when the contract expires after the company failed to discover significant oil, gas reserve.

Conoco Indonesia president Patrick L. Meyer told Petromindo.com Wednesday that the company might not seek to renew the contract when it expired in February 2002.

Conoco acquired North West Natuna block in 1992.

Conoco had been trying for sometime to find partners for the block, but thus far it had not get firm commitment from any.(alex)
