ConocoPhillips awards $4.5 million drilling contract to Smedvig

Norwegian oilfield services company Smedvig asa announced Tuesday that ConocoPhillips had awarded a letter of intent for its T-3, a self-erecting tender rig, to carry out drilling production in Indonesia.

?The contract value is estimated to approximately US$4.5 million, including mobilization and demobilization fee of US$1.8 million,? said Smedvig, adding that the drilling operation was scheduled to commence in mid October 2004 for duration of approximately 60 days.

T-3 is a purpose built self-erecting drilling tender barge with a flat bottom, raked stern and raked bow hull shape. Lifting operations can be made onto platforms up to a height of 90 feet above mean sea level. (Robert)
