ConocoPhillips: S. Sumatra oil fields prone to illegal tapping

US oil major ConocoPhillips said that its oil and fields in Musi Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra Province, are prone to illegal tapping.

?In the last three months alone, there have been six attempts of stealing at our oil fields and distribution pipeline,? said ConocoPhillips Vice President Development and Relation Joang Laksanto in Palembang Friday as quoted by Kompas.

He said that considering the limited internal security personnel, the company hopes for external support to protect the assets including from the police and local communities. (*)
