ConocoPhillips to drill seven Indonesian wells in 2005

U.S. oil, gas major ConocoPhillips plans to drill three exploration wells and four appraisal wells in its Indonesian operations areas in 2005, according to the company’s Annual Analyst Meeting presentation on Thursday.

The company, however, did not give further information either on drilling locations or the schedule.

ConocoPhillips is the largest foreign leaseholder in Indonesia with 13 exploration production licenses, concentrated in two core areas: the West Natuna Sea and South Sumatra. The company is also anticipating a potentially emerging growth area, which is offshore East Java.

In the presentation, the company disclosed that development of the Suban Phase III project in Corridor PSC onshore South Sumatra and the North Belut of Nila PSC offshore West Natuna are scheduled for 2007-2010. Meanwhile, Ketapang PSC, located offshore East Java, is planned after 2010. (Robert)
