ConocoPhillips to shutdown Suban field

US oil, gas firm ConocoPhillips will shut down its Suban gas field in Corridor Block PSC onshore South Sumatra from July 23 to July 29 due to routine maintenance, upstream oil, gas authority BPMIGAS said on Thursday.

The process will be started with partial shutdown of 96 hours, where output will be reduced to 530 MMCFD and 64 hours of total shut-down.

Consecutively, gas pipeline operator PT Transgasindo will carry out hot tapping for the segment that supply gas from JOB Pertamina-Talisman Jambi Merang to South Sumatra buyer, BPMIGAS said.

Suban is currently producing 760 MMCFD of gas, which is supplied to state gas distribution firm PGN in West Java and Batam, Chevron Pacific Indonesia (CPI) in Central Sumatra and to Singapore..

BPMIGAS Spokesperson Gde Pradnyana said that the planned shut down is carried out to optimize the field?s production capacity and to avoid unplanned shut-downs.

Gde said that during the partial shutdown gas supply for CPI and Batam will be compensated by left over gas in the pipeline and increase of supply from gas producers outside Corridor block. According to him, steamflooding process in CPI?s Duri field will not be significantly affected by the shut down. (godang)
