Construction of mine-mouth power plant in Riau to be expedited

PT Indonesia Power, a subsidiary of state electricity firm PLN, has considered to start building a mine-mouth coal powered electricity plant in Riau before 2006, the original schedule it had decided with Riau provincial administration, Bisnis Indonesia daily reported Monday.
?Our feasibility study will be completed in three months, and we may consider building the plant before 2006 as requested by Riau provincial administration,? the paper as saying Indonesia Power president director Firdaus Akmal.
The 2x250 megawatt plant will be located in Pranap district in Riau.
It would cost US$500 million, and the amount would come from PT Indonesia Power, Riau provincial administration, and state coalminer PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam, Firdaus said over the weekend.
Firdaus said Indonesia Power would hold a 51-percent stake in the power project. (*)
