Construction of Pacitan coal fired power plant starts

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro will symbolically kick off Tuesday the construction of the Pacitan coal-fired power plant in Sukarejo village, Pacitan regency, East Java, Kontan reported on Tuesday.

 

The Pacitan power plant, which is one of the coal-fired power projects to be built under PLN’s crash program to provide additional electricity supply by 10,000 MW in three years until the end of 2009, will have two power generation units with a capacity of 315 MW each.

 

Last week, the Dong Fang Electric Corporation-Dalle Energy consortium signed EPC contract with state electricity firm PLN to build 2x315 MW Pacitan power plant in East Java . The consortium offered a selling price of 4.3452 U.S. cents per kWh.

 

During the ground breaking ceremony of the Pacitan power plant, Purnomo will also witness the signing of memorandum of understanding (MoU) with three independent power producers for the construction of power plants outside Java, according to Investor Daily. 

 

The coal-fired power projects include the 1x30 MW Rancong power plant which is to be built in Aceh, 2x6 MW Labuhan coal fired power plant in West Nusa Tenggara and the 2x7 MW Bau-Bau power plant in Southeast Sulawesi . (*)
