Construction of Pelabuhan Ratu power plant begins

A ground-breaking ceremony was held Monday in Citarik village, Palebuhan Ratu,
The ceremony, which was led by State Minister of State Enterprises Sofyan Djalil, was attended by the Chinese ambassador to Indoneisa and a number of Indonesian government's officials including the director general of electricity and energy, West Java Governor as well as members of the board of directors of the state-owned electricity company PLN.
PLN said in a statement that the Jawa Barat 2 plant which is also known as the Pelabuhan Ratu power plant will have three power generators each with a capacity of 350 MW. The plant is built by a consortium of Shanghai Electric Group Co. Ltd and Maxima Infrastruktur, with total cots of about US$566.9 million plus Rp 2.2 trillion.
About 15 percent of the construction costs will be provided by PLN and the remaining 85 percent by credit suppliers.
PLN said that the first unit of the Pelabuhan Ratu power plant is scheduled for completion in 30 months, while the second and the third unit will be completed three and six months afterwards.
