The construction of the planned Peranap coal-fired power plant in Riau is expected to start in 2015. ?We already have the master plan for the construction of the power plant. And talks over the power purchase agreement are in progress. We hope two years from now, construction can start,? Senior Manager for Corporate Affairs and Communications at Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) W.Hairul Razli told Petromindo.com in Jakarta.
The Malaysian electricity company TNB, together with Indonesia?s state-owned coal mining firm PT Bukit Asam and electricity firm PLN, will develop the Peranap power plant, which is expected to have capacity of between 800-1,200 MW. The MoU for the construction of the plant was signed last year, and it is projected to start commercial operation in 2018.
