Three electricity companies including PT Tanjung Jati Power Com, PT Citra Kartika Daya and PT Power Jawa Barat will resume their power projects which were halted in 1997 as part of the government?s retrenchment program to cope the impact of the country?s worst ever economic crisis, Koran Tempo reported on Friday.

State owned electricity company PLN?s president Eddie Widiono Suwondo said in Jakarta on Thursday that PLN supported their plans to resume the delayed power projects. "We are ready to renegotiate the new tariff from the three power plants," he said.

PT Tanjung Jati Power initially planned to build a US$1.6 billion power plant in Tanjung Jati, PT Citra Kartika proposed to build a US$670 million power plant in Cilacap and PT Power Jawa Barat planned to build a US$677 million power plant in Serang. The projects were suspended following the onset of the economic crisis in 1997. (*)
