Container port planned in Bone to support nickel industry

A container port valued at Rp1.7 trillion (about $100.6 million) is planned for construction in Bone Pute village, Tonra district, Bone regency, South Sulawesi, local officials said following a meeting with investors.

The project will be developed by PT AAS Gemilang Mandiri and is expected to serve as a logistics hub supporting the nickel industry, Tiran Nusantara Group President Director Rahman Arif said during the meeting. AAS Gemilang Mandiri is a unit of Tiran Nusantara Group.

Bone Deputy Regent Andi Akmal Pasluddin said the regional government supports the investment, noting that infrastructure readiness, particularly road access to the site, will be key to ensuring smooth construction and future operations.

The port is projected to create thousands of jobs and boost regional economic growth while improving connectivity and distribution of goods, including agricultural products and other commodities.

Officials from the transportation ministry, South Sulawesi provincial government and port authorities also attended the meeting to provide technical input on infrastructure and spatial planning for the project.
